On Monday’s Backchat, walking the walk. the Government is looking at plans to remove traffic from some streets in Central and Shamshiupo as part of its ‘Walk in HK’ initative. This would include part time pedestrian areas in Soho including Hollywood Road, as well as more walking space in Des Voeux Road and Queen’s Road. Traffic in Sham Shui Po would be slowed down for better road safety. What do you think of the ideas, and in general how would you improve pedestrian experience ? Can we have a car free zone without pop up banners and loudspeakers? After a stream of accidents involving pedestrians, do we need more railings in congested areas to keep cars and people apart?
