HK01 article - What makes a walkable space?

Sidewalks where people walk in Hong Kong are not really walkable. Places such as Mong Kok are jammed with street performers blasting their karaoke music and itinerary vendors touting for customers. The same thing is happening in Des Voeux Road Central. Walking in DVRC is like going through a mini “hurdle race”.  An ideal pedestrianized zone is an open space  for people to just chill out in and relax. Only time will tell if the government can build the pedestrianized zone people strive for.
